ethos
What makes people need things that aren’t necessary? …I always gravitated toward that question.
Hanging art, planting flowers in the garden, wearing perfume; there’s something very essential about “non-essentials.”
No one needs jewelry per se, but once you find your favorite pieces, you feel naked without them. I love that. That’s the paradox that makes all art special. You don’t need it, but you absolutely need it.
After working in a jewelry boutique in my twenties, I realized how much I love connecting people with that intangible need for beauty, the essential non-essentials. Helping people find their perfect piece of jewelry is one way to forge that connection, designing jewelry became an even deeper way.
It’s only natural that I became a jewelry designer; designing helps me stay in the vein of what I discovered I loved most - helping connect people to art they can’t live without.
Twenty years later, jewelry is still my passion.
Hand crafted in Raleigh, North Carolina, Shannon Dawn Jewelry offers a chouette set of feminine, signature pieces. Using materials ethically sourced from US based companies, Shannon designs “wear in the shower without thinking twice” pieces to uplift your everyday style. In addition to the central collection of “I feel naked without these” artisan pieces, Shannon Dawn Jewelry offers an edited collection featuring pearls and gemstones to adorn those extra-special occasions (helping brides select their wedding day jewelry is a favorite for the designer!)
Service and community engagement are values I strive to uphold and model for my family. I’m energized by volunteering my time at the InterFaith Food Shuttle, and am proud to donate five percent of every sale to the food bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
details
After years of working with precious metals, I've fallen completely in love with the way sterling silver and 14k gold-fill let me create pieces that are both stunning and lasting. I'll be honest - I chose these materials not just because they're beautiful (though they absolutely are), but because they offer that sweet spot of luxury and wearability that I want for my own jewelry.
When I work with sterling silver, I'm working with 92.5% pure silver - the same quality you'd find in the finest jewelry houses. The difference is, I personally shape each piece in my studio, paying attention to every curve and connection. And my 14k gold-fill? It's not just a thin plating - it's a thick layer of real gold bonded to a core metal. This means your pieces won't tarnish or wear away like gold-plated jewelry can.
These pieces are meant to become your everyday favorites - the ones you reach for whether you're heading to the office, meeting friends for coffee, or dressing up for a special evening. They're substantial enough to feel luxurious but delicate enough to layer and stack (which, I'll admit, I'm slightly addicted to doing with my own collection).
